We’ve put together our favorite toppings for our Helen Browning Burgers. Whether you chose the seasoned pork burgers, seasoned beef burgers or plain beef burgers theirs something for everyone. Perfect to add something else to your BBQ! These recipes were inspired from BBC Good food.
Bhaji Burger
- 150g pot plain yoghurt
- 1/2 small pack mint, leaves chopped
- 100g plain flour
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 3 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 onion, halved and finely sliced
For the raita, grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much liquid as you can. Put in a bowl with the yogurt, mint and some salt. Mix and chill.
For the bhajis, tip the flour, spices and bicarb into a bowl with a pinch of salt. Slowly add 200ml cold water to make a thick batter (you might not need all of it), then mix in the onion.
Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Add the batter in batches so you have four burger-sized bhajis. Sizzle for 3 mins until crispy on one side, then flip and cook on the other side until cooked through. Keep warm.
Barbecue, griddle or pan-fry the burgers to your liking. Put lettuce and a burger on each bun and top with some raita, a bhaji and red onion. Serve the mango chutney on the side.
French onion cheeseburger
- 2tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 tbsp light brown soft sugar
- 1 tsp cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
- 2 handfuls watercress
Put the butter and oil in a large non-stick frying pan. Add the onion and fry over a medium heat for 15 mins or until golden and sticky. Stir through the light brown soft sugar, cider vinegar and wholegrain mustard.
In the last minutes of cooking the burgers, top with the gruyere and grill until bubbling and melted. Top the buns with the burgers, then the sticky onions and divide the watercress between each.
Big Double cheeseburger & secret sauce
- 2 slices of mild cheddar or burger cheese
- 1 gherkin sliced lengthways
- 100g magonaise
- 1 tbsp American
- large pinch garlic granules
- large pinch onion granules
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1 tsp pickle relish or finely chopped gherkin
Tip everything into a bowl except the cheese and the gherkin and mix until all the ingredients are combined. Stack each burger with the order burger, sauce, burger, cheese, gherkin slices, more sauce and then top with the other bread bun.
Tex-Mex Burger
- 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
- 4 tbsp chopped fresh tomato
- 1 avocado
Once the burgers are cooked top with cheese, tomato and avocado. Enjoy!
