This delicious oozy, cheesy sub is filled with our tender organic meatballs and smothered in a quick homemade tomato and herb sauce. Simply load it up then pop it under a grill for 5 minutes for the ultimate indulgent lunch!

For each sub you’ll need:

  • 1 submarine roll
  • 4 Helen Browning’s organic meatballs (there’s 12 to a pack)
  • Dash of olive oil
  • 1/4 tin chopped tomatoes
  • Tsp tomato purée
  • Some dried mixed herbs
  • Seasoning to taste
  • A handful of grated cheddar cheese

Shallow-fry or bake your meatballs (frying is quicker at around 7-8 minutes), turning to cook evenly.

Pre-heat your grill. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, add the olive oil, tomatoes, purée and herbs, stirring together to make an easy tomato sauce. Taste and season to suit you. Once your meatballs are cooked, sllice open your sub and spread some of your tomato sauce on one half, pop along your cooked meatballs, top with more sauce and lashings of grated cheddar cheese. Keep the sub open and place under a medium-hot grill for a 5 minutes and your cheese is turning gold and bubbling.
