Currently studying Agri-food Marketing with business at Harper Adams University, I have come to join the Helen Browning’s Team for a year as a marketing and operations assistant. I’ve come from a dairy farm in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire with a keen interest in the food industry and agriculture. Throughout the past few weeks here, I’ve got to know the area and regularly enjoy the walks, whether it is up the ridgeway to see the pigs or down to the stream. My favourite product is the new seasoned meatballs. They are the perfect quick, easy tea after work with spaghetti and a tomato sauce. My other hobbies include baking, so I will definitely be feeding the office with chocolate brownies and lemon drizzle cakes!
So far in my few weeks of being here, I’ve enjoyed writing recipes and blog posts for the website and processing and packing up the meat box orders. Its so interesting to see how far the orders travel. The team is so friendly and it is great getting to know everyone especially over the pub staff lunches. This next week I am meeting with the Organic Trade Board and having a farm tour. I am really looking forward to seeing the pigs and the cows again!
Over the next few months, I am helping organise Eastbrook’s Grand Day Out which is an event we are doing to celebrate Organic September. The event is celebrating all things farm, food, fun and family and located at the pub. I am also looking forward to attending a webinar with the Soil Association about understanding organic farming.
