Good Beef is a by product of our dairy herds. The beef has a much lower carbon footprint to beef produced from ‘suckler’ systems where the cow is just reared for beef. Research shows that, ‘Good Beef’ is 50% more climate friendly. The cattle are pure-bred British Friesians. A wonderful dual purpose breed in that they are good for milk and meat. Research shows, that both organic milk and meat contain around 50% more beneficial omega-3 fatty acids than conventionally produced products, as well as 40% more conjugated linoleic acid, which has been linked to a range of health benefits including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers and obesity. As well as being high welfare, low carbon and good for nature approach, the beef is better for us too.
Dairy cows in a conventional system are typically pushed so hard they are often exhausted. Even when our cows are within the dairy system they have the highest animal welfare standards. Soil Association standards cover living conditions, food quality, transport and slaughter. Organic cows spend a minimum of 215 days per year outside. Read more about the Soil Association standards Here. Once the cow has come out of the dairy system she is left to graze in pasture in order the gain some fat and muscle.
Our ‘Good Beef’ range includes burgers, meatballs, mince, stir fry, diced and steaks. We have also launched our seasoned beef range which includes seasoned meatballs and seasoned beef burgers.
