Organic, free-range British poultry reared in Devon
Otter Valley Poultry is situated in the Blackdown Hills of East Devon an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Otter Valley prefer a slow growing strain of Hubbard chicken well suited to organic free range rearing practices giving them a distinctive texture with a slightly gamier flavour to the leg and a significantly sturdier bone structure.
Otter Valley’s organic certification comes from the Soil Association who have the most stringent organic standards in the world for rearing poultry for the table. Their slaughter and processing plant is also certified organic by the Soil Association.
Allowed time to mature naturally
Otter Valley have the the highest standards of animal welfare and rear their birds in the traditional way – being free to roam and forage, fed on an additive-free natural diet, free from growth enhancers – and allowed time to mature naturally – to yield the most moist, deliciously flavoured meat.
The chicken are then expertly processed through the family’s own on-farm abattoir reducing any stressful travelling or handling.
