Description
Not all bacon is created equal A pig’s diet is an important component of bacon quality and flavour. Our organic pigs thrive in a slow-growing, pasture-raised system that gives them freedom to roam and play within family groups. They forage on herb-rich grass, supplemented with simple cereals and with surplus organic fruit and vegetables for extra variety. If you’re looking to enjoy a delicious and healthier version of a breakfast staple, nitrate-free bacon is definitely worth giving a try!
Grill or fry for 4-6 minutes, turning occasionally. Ensure bacon is piping hot before serving.
Helen Browning’s saddleback pigs enjoy a natural diet, free from unnecessary chemicals, antibiotics or GM feed. They spend their days outdoors on organic pasture and are certified organic by the Soil Association.

Lovely thin cut bacon
Love this bacon – quite thin cut but I like that as it crisps up nicely. Its a shame Helen doesn’t make her smoked bacon anymore but this has become a great replacement.

My favourite bacon! Crisps up perfectly. A regular on our breakfast table. Highly recommend.

Very rare, even amongst organic shops, to find an organic bacon than does not contain nitrites.

Years ago I gave up on buying bacon – always much too salty! If you’re looking for proper old fashioned bacon then this is for you….lovely pork flavour with minimal salt and the added bonus of zero nitrates/nitrites. Buy this – you won’t be disappointed. 5*

Extremely disappointed after reading positive reviews. The bacon gave off so much liquid I had to strain it- – pat it dry and cook it further. The taste was “ ordinary”.

We’re sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the unsmoked bacon. When bacon gives off liquid it is usually because it’s been heated too fast initially. We recommend allowing your bacon to come up to room temperature before cooking it to avoid temperature shocking it. This keeps all the moisture in the meat and not the pan.

I have purchased your nitrate free bacon numerous times and clearly I enjoy it. However, my latest pack was swimming in a pink liquid before I opened it. Could that be the vacuum pack had been punctured or something that could be expected at times. Never had it before.
