A word from Helen Browning
'I have spent my adult life striving to revolutionise food and farming, in whatever ways I can. Through my own life as a farmer, trying to develop and showcase organic methods, and through working with many organisations, especially the Soil Association where I have been CEO for the last 15 years. Making this my mission pushed me way out of my comfort zone from an early age, propelling me into adventures and a public facing life that would have been hard to predict in my childhood. Yet that childhood in the 60’s and 70’s was for me, as it is for all of us in any era, so very formative, and it was an unusual one, even at the time - but which today may feel entirely alien, except perhaps to those in deeply rural communities. This is my 'why' story. I'll tell you more about what happened next another day!'
