Just a few miles from Swindon

Off-site wetland, grassland and woodland

I’ve been farming this land in Wiltshire for over 30 years. You get to know every dip, every hedge, every patch that wants to be something slightly different. We’re now using part of it to deliver off-site Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units through long-term wetland restoration letting part of it become wetland, with scrapes and ponds, alongside neutral and lowland grassland that can be cut for hay or grazed lightly in the summer, in the traditional way.

Not because it sounds good on a website — but because it’s the right thing for this corner of the farm. It’s on the flood plain but has been drained for many years. Allowing it to re-wet will slow the flow of water downstream, potentially stopping flooding elsewhere. And we have so few ponds left around here, which are so valuable for wildlife of all kinds. Over the years, with a 30 year management commitment, this will become a refuge for nature and a place of even greater beauty.

This area of grassland, wet woodland, ponds and scrapes will generate off-site Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) units. If you’re a developer or business looking to offset biodiversity loss or meet Biodiversity Net Gain planing requirements in Swindon, Wiltshire, South West England or the M4 corridor those units could be rooted here — on a thriving, working organic farm, managed for the long term.

You’ll be able to see it change over time. Your staff can visit, watch birds, maybe even volunteer if they would like to. You and your teams can feel part of this unique place, just a few miles from Swindon but a place of peace and tranquillity.
