Wednesday September 26
food for £10 per head

Despite the pretty appalling weather this summer, there’s still an abundance in this village, this farm, and local areas people supply us from – an abundance others can only dream of. So let’s share it out a bit, at very reasonable prices, we thought. On September 26, from 7.00pm.

There will be some house rules – no menu for a start – we’ll choose what we think’s best from the village; food will be available from 7.00-8.00pm, although you can eat it for as long as you like; it will arrive probably in fairly random fashion for you to pick from, help yourselves to, and hopefully help your neighbours too. We think it will be quite generous.

And the other rule is that we’re creating some bigger tables, so no ghettoes for car fiends or IT workers; you might find yourself sharing with people you don’t know – you can discuss anything from cricket to cars, including the other people in the village you don’t like.

We’d be pleased to know if you are coming. Last time we did it, in April, we were surprised by the numbers.

£10 covers a range of main courses, for veggies and carnivores and kids.

how to find us:

Bishopstone is about 8 miles east of Swindon, 10 miles west of Wantage. In the village is a large duckpond. If the pond is on the right, the next lane on the left is Cues Lane. The Royal Oak is 50 yards down there on the right. The car park is beyond it and round the back.

Please be aware that unfortunately it is a difficult pub to access for disabled users, but our staff are willing to assist wherever possible and suitable. Call ahead and ask us, if you can.
